Rannach 2005 Merlot and Rannach Reserve Merlot

2005 was an almost perfect season and this is our best vintage yet.

Michael Cooper gives the Reserve 4 stars and describes it as "bold and bright in colour, with a fragrant bouquet, it is rich and smooth, with deep blackcurrant, plum and slight herb flavours, and savoury, leathery notes adding complexity.  Drink now or cellar.

 Our Reserve Merlot has been placed No.7 in the top 12 NZ Merlot in Gourmet Traveller Wine Edition Sept. 2008

Rannach 2003 & 2004 Merlot
$20 per bottle, $225 per case

This ripe merlot displays characteristic plum, cherry and spice aromas. The palate is plumy and smooth. Twelve months aging in French barriques gives the wine a warm spicy finish. Great drinking now or cellar for 2 to 3 years for extra complexity.

Bob Campbell in Air New Zealand's inflight magazine described the wine as "a light, fresh, delicately fruity Merlot" 

Michael Cooper has provided tasting notes describing the wine as "full coloured, plummy, earthy, spicy, clearly varietal,like a minor Bordeaux, slightly leathery, moderate tannins, honest and characterful."
